The first Cumbria Track league fixture of the season took place at the Sheepmount Stadium Carlisle on the 24th April with our team of 14,taking four 1st,two 2nd and 12 results in the top 5 places.

It was pleasing to see so many athletes new to track & field taking part . Ellena Hayhurstcame 1st in the U11 girls 70m sprint(10.7) and 1st in the long jump reaching 3.56m. Emma Peackock came 1st in the U13 girls Javelin reaching 14.65m and Broghan Wilson came 1 st in the U13 boys 80m sprint in 11.5s

We were well represented in the U11 boys by Riley Moffet with a time of 2.37 for 600m and 14.2s in the 70m sprint. Louis Simpson ran the U11 boys 70m sprint in 12.8s. Poppy Scholefield ran the U11 girls 70 m sprint in 12.2s and just missed the final heat by a 1/10 of a second!. Louis simpson jumped 2.01 in the U11 boys Long Jump. Ellen Elliott U13 girls ran 800m and came 5th in 3.04mins. Ellen Elliot, Ceri Sargent & Oliva Simpson took part in the U13 girls 80m sprint with times of 12.7s, 13.1 & 15.3s. and Ceri Sargent, Oliva Simpson & Esther Noffet ran the U13 girls 150m with times of 24.4s, 25.5s & 26.9s. Megan Bates ran the U15 girls 100m in 13.8s coming 3rd and the 200m in 27.9s coming 2nd

In the throws Helen Peacock U13 girls came 3rd in the Discus and 1st in the javelin with Emiley Petrie coming 3rd throwing 9.9m

The U13 girls had Ellen Elliott coming 4th jumping 3.7m followed by Emma Peacock 3.23m, Ceri Sargent (3.16m, Oliva Simpson 2.98m, Esther Moffat 2.71 and Emily Petrie 2.59 in the Long Jump. Clair Petrie U15 girls jumped 3.34 in the long jump

The U15 girls High Jump had Alice McKillop coming 2nd with a jump of 1.4m and Claire Petrie coming 5th with a jump of 1.2m

Three club records were broken at the Cumbria Track League event- Ellena Hayhurst broke the U11g 70m (with 10.6 - first heat) held by Megan and Megan Bates broke the U15g 100m and 200m records with 13.8s and 27.9s

The next event is again at the Sheepmount on the 29rd May VOLUNTEERS PLEASE?
