Members of Eden Runners U11 track team travelled to Sheffield recently to gain inspiration from the European Indoor Athletic Trials. With many top stars at the event the youngsters had plenty to inspire them with excellent performances seen by Bejing Olympic athletes Chris Thomlinson winner of the men’s long jump and Joyce Maduaka who won the women’s 60m sprint. The young Eden Runners met many of the stars including Natasha Danvers the Olympic bronze medallist in the 400m hurdles at Bejing, who made Emma-Jane Peacock’s day by letting her wear her Olympic medal.

Eden Juniors will be competing in the Cumbria Track League and Young Athletes League this summer and especially welcome any youngsters who would like to take part. For more information please email Club Coach Dave Peacock at dpeacock13@btinternet.com

Karen sets PB at Lancaster Half

After posting a time of 1.31 at the cumbrian run karen Heaviside was out to get back to form and set a good time at the Lancaster Half Marathon .This flat out and back course was the ideal place to try and get under 1.30.With ideal weather conditions karen said at the start that she would be happy with a time of under 1.30. Karen had a very good run up to the 11 mile mark but started to tire and she had to work hard for the last 2 miles, and when she crossed the line she was surprised that not only had she broken the 1.30 barrier she had also got a Pb of 1.26.25 beating her previous best by 35 secs.Karen Finished 3rd female.
